Hanmer Springs
A thermal-pool complex with sulphur, rock and cascade pools amid gardens and alpine scenery.
Choose garden-lined thermal pools or a more remote forest soak. Walking tracks and unsealed approach roads deserve as much attention as the pools.
The current selection contrasts a staffed thermal complex with two Department of Conservation natural-pool approaches. Choose the support and arrival conditions your group needs; a track listing alone does not establish a bathing fee.
3 venue records in this guide. Read each place’s admission and access evidence, then confirm current arrangements before travelling.
Hanmer separates thermal bathing from freshwater pools and slides. Mangatutu involves a steep gravel-road approach and a ford. Kaitoke uses a walking track to creek pools. These are different levels of infrastructure, not interchangeable pool tickets.

Hanmer’s Online Saver must be bought before the day of use; Flexi is a different product. DOC says the Mangatutu road is unsuitable for caravans and campervans. A suitable vehicle and a usable road matter before price, and missing admission information must not be read as free entry.
