Plan a hot-spring trip in Japan.

This directory currently compares two named public bathhouses, not every onsen town. Choose the bathhouse and bathing course, then read its own clothing, tattoo and weekly-closing guidance.

2 venue records in this guide. Read each place’s admission and access evidence, then confirm current arrangements before travelling.

A bathhouse ticket is not a hotel stay

Dogo Onsen Honkan is a public bathhouse in Matsuyama. Its bathing courses can include different baths and resting rooms; special rooms and Yūshinden visits have separate reservation arrangements. Buy the course you want rather than assuming every ticket includes all areas.

Use the rules of the named bathhouse

Goshono-yu is one of Kinosaki’s public bathhouses. The reviewed tourism guidance permits tattoos in those public baths and lists Thursday closure for this one. That does not establish the policy of every ryokan or every bath elsewhere in Japan.
